Nexus House had to remain fully operational throughout our refurbishment programme of works, and this coupled

with the building’s location in a highly trafficked part of the centre of Newcastle, required continuous liaison with

the Contract Administrator, staff representatives and adjoining neighbours.  This factor was paramount to the success

of the project and the smooth operation and phasing of the works ensured hand over within programme and with

minimum disruption. The ground floor works included the remodelling formation of a new 50 person Call Centre,

the creation of a reception and waiting area, a One Stop Shop, security office, toilets, showers and a Delicatessen. We

also formed a new glazed entrance with automatic doors and replaced all ground floor windows with new curtain

walling and stall risers. Problems overcome within the project included the discovery of un-mapped fibre optic cables

within the ground floor, coupling the main server to all Metro Stations, together with the relocation of a previously

unknown  distribution board feeding half of Nexus House. We also refurbished part of the 4th Floor and all fully occupied

core areas..
