North Tyneside General Hospital – Lung Function and Clinical Research Outpatients.

Rake Lane Hospital, North Shields

Client: Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust   Project Value: £202,000.00 Contract Duration:  January 2013 – May 2013

This scheme required a great deal of pre-planning to execute the partial refurbishment works with minimal disruption to the Client and hospital users.  On adjacent sides of our construction area we had very busy surgeries and outpatient clinics and each had management teams with differing views and opinions on programme and precedence. Working co-operatively within a fully operational major urban hospital with competing stakeholder priorities required clear and concise communication with all parties’ and was key to the overall success of the project.

We had to maintain all “building life services” during our construction activities and ensure that our work was carried out as “clinically “ cleanly as possible especially when handling waste materials through the hospital. Work included re-configuring non-load bearing walls, stripping out and replacement of ceilings and floor coverings, replacement doors, M & E and IT/AV service installations, and final decoration..
